Following up TechnologoDoom’s excellent review of BlindGiRl, The Autonomous Regime union from the Gamespot forums asked us for a Q&A, which we were happy to do. They asked us some very interesting questions, so read the full interview at The Autonomous Regime over at Gamespot.

Community Review: TechnologoDoom at Gamespot

Posted in reviews on June 23, 2010 by glpeas

Gamespot reader ‘TechnologoDoom’ has written a community review of BlindGiRl.  The review is as comprehensive and professionally written as any we’ve seen, and there are some really well thought out comments and critiques.

“BlindGiRl somehow performs a dazzling alchemy in turning what would otherwise be a rather dull maze-game into a challenging, aesthetically rich game that will leave a strong impression on the player well after you reach completion”

It’s well worth a read of the full review, and you can do so over at Gamespot.com.

E3 IndieCade footage

Gaming mega-site Gamespot stopped by the IndieCade booth at E3. They talk about BlindGiRl, but, due to some dodgy network connections on the show floor, the game isn’t running – which is a real shame. Still, it’s great to see BlindGiRl as a part of something so huge as E3.

Watch the whole video, which includes a good explanation of exactly what IndieCade is all about, over at Gamespot.

BlindGiRl will be at E3

We’re very excited to finally be able to announce that BlindGiRl will be at E3 this year – as part of the IndieCade showcase. Only twelve games have been chosen for this honour, all titles that have “raised eyebrows among jurors engaged in the rigorous IndieCade selection process“.  We’re hugely proud to be part of this showcase, alongside games that are seeking to break new ground in gameplay and art.

Review and thanks from NewbReview

Newbreview have played BlindGiRl, and really liked it, giving it 5/5 stars overall. They called it ‘Probably the most innovative game on the Indie Marketplace’.

Read the full review at Newbreview.

The review also talks about an impromptu game of ‘BlindGiRl LIVE!’ in hospital corridors. It’s really great for us to hear this sort of thing, and we’re really glad our game was able to help these people out in some way.

BlindGiRl Tech: Waves and Media

Posted in technical on April 30, 2010 by glpeas

The world is not uniform as we all know. Atoms combine in molecules to produce the wide variety of materials we know. Waves can travel through all materials – often the material a wave is travelling through is called media.

Waves travel differently through 'glass' walls

However, as they travel through different media waves exhibit different properties. For example the speed of sound in the air is 343 meters per second and in water it is 1484 meters per second.

Waves tend to attenuate with distance. That happens because the wave looses energy. The amount of attenuation depends on the media they travel through.

Attenuation and “speed” are the two main properties that describe the environments in BlindGiRl wave simulation.

Read more about the speed of sound and attenuation at Wikipedia.
